The police crime statistics for Saxony show: Domestic violence is on the rise. The HOME research centre investigates the background and develops specific support services based on this. It combines findings from economics and social sciences, psychology and the humanities with the practical knowledge of regional organisations.
It is now recognised as certain: The rise in domestic violence is also linked to the lack of housing. This makes it almost impossible for many of those affected to escape from violent relationships. Places in women's shelters are scarce and finding accommodation is difficult.
The research centre therefore cooperates with the housing industry and develops model projects that enable affected women to make a safe new start.
