INTERACT
Intersectional Approach to Combating Homelessness for Women - Work package 3 in the joint project: Impact analysis
Effectively combating homelessness, making social impact visible
Homelessness among women rarely arises from a single cause. Gender-based violence, mental illness and problematic substance use often occur simultaneously - and are often treated separately by traditional support services. INTERACT challenges this isolated approach.
Funded by the European Union through the ESF+, the project started in October 2024 and will run until September 2027. A transnational consortium from Greece, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Iceland and Romania is developing and testing a joint methodology - holistic, trauma-sensitive and geared towards political change.
The aim is to empower marginalised women to find a way out of homelessness. To this end, multidisciplinary support services are being trialled in all partner countries and combined into a final intervention model - flexible enough to work in different national contexts.
The HOME research centre at HTWK Leipzig is responsible for quality assurance and analysing the social impact of the entire project.
